Microsoft has long been at the forefront of productivity software innovation. Microsoft has just released an update for MS Excel formulas.
Several new features aimed to make the formula work easier and more efficiently. Excel users will find it easier to do sophisticated computations and analyze data like never before.
Whether you’re an experienced MS Excel user or a novice, these new features will undoubtedly make your life simpler and help you get the most out of your spreadsheet app.
Most of us are comfortable with MS Office apps. But no one wants to excel in MS Excel & it’s spreadsheet crunching. But now Microsoft is going to make its formulas simpler.
Spreadsheets cannot function without formulas, but mastering them in Microsoft Excel requires practice and can be frustrating.
With this most recent upgrade, Excel web users will benefit from a small amount of automation, but Microsoft has added new functionality to the desktop versions.
Simpler MS Excel Formulas Function
The online, Windows, and Mac versions of Excel will all receive new functionalities in the December 2022 release. The most important of these are optional autofill tools for formula entry on websites.
When Formula Suggestions is enabled, whenever users write a “=” sign depending on the context, web Excel automatically provides SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, MIN, or MAX formulae.
For instance, the program might automatically suggest a method to average out adjacent values if it observes a column labeled “Average” close to other columns holding numbers.
The tool, which is only available in English now, might assist excel specialists in saving a little time or instruct non-technical users on how to enter formulas.

For users who would often need to enter the same formula repeatedly in numerous rows or columns, “Formula by Example” can automatically fill groups of cells.
Microsoft likens the function to Flash Fill, however, formulas can be copied as opposed to plain text.
Power Query & Data Import
Microsoft is also now testing out functionality that can alert users when a link to a cloud workbook is invalid and offer a new place to fix the link. The business added a search box to the inquiries pane as well.
Excel for Windows now has a few additional features added by Microsoft. Users can now rapidly enter the Power Query Editor by pressing Alt + F12 (or Option + F12 on a Mac).
For the “Get Data from Table/Range” function, Windows Insiders now have the ability to create layered Power Query types of data and import data from Dynamic Arrays.
Image Insertion Update
Additionally, Excel now supports the alternative text insertion of images from source URLs into cells.
The image formats BMP, JPG/JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, ICO, and WEBP are supported by the function. Users can alter an image’s size to fit inside a cell or to keep a certain number of pixels.
Microsoft has provided a spreadsheet that details which version of Excel will receive each new feature. The additional functionality is shown in the table above, and this link reveals the complete chart.
