Facebook Likes: Facebook is now coming up with a new feature. With the help of this feature, the users will be able to see the number of likes found on their content but their friends will not be able to see it.

Actually, the person who gets more likes on social media becomes happy but the one who gets less likes gets disappointed. For this reason, many people either avoid uploading their content on social media or keep a distance from social media. Many times users also delete their posts due to lack of likes.

The new feature of Facebook has been made keeping in mind such people. This feature will give new experience to the users so that they can remain active on Facebook without any pressure. The company wants users to focus on posting their thoughts and photos etc. instead of counting the number of likes.
The new feature is expected to help users in getting out of the state of FOMO.

What is FOMO?

Facebook Likes: New feature will allow hiding likes, will give relief from FOMO

The FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is a new term that has been added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013.

“Anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently be happening elsewhere, often aroused by posts seen on social media” – Oxford English Dictionary

Social media users are becoming victims of FOMO:

For the last few years, people have been becoming addicts of social media.
Many users keep uploading their content on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. After this, they keep on checking their posts repeatedly that how many friends have liked it and how many friends have shared/forwarded it.

If they get a satisfactory number of likes then they become happy otherwise they get frustrated. Such frustrated users feel that their social media friends have not liked their post or they have ignored it.

When a user worries that his friends on social media are ignoring his post, then the feeling of fear of missing out (FOMO) enters his mind.

You should pay attention to whether unknowingly you too have become one of such people. If you too often become disappointed due to not getting enough likes on your posts, then you should know that more or less you have also been in the grip of FOMO.

Facebook’s new feature will give relief from FOMO:

Due to the new feature of Facebook, the user’s friends will not be able to see the likes, comments, etc. on his posts. So even if there are lesser likes on a user’s post, the user will not worry about it. In this way, they will get relief from the fear of missing out to an extent.

The new feature of Facebook will enable users to hide the number of likes. Thus, it will help the user to come out of the state of FOMO.

The company has already removed the like counting feature from Instagram:
The company has already taken such a step to provide users a stress-free environment when it launched a Like hiding button from its photo messaging site “Instagram” last year. However, it has been launched only in some countries as an experiment.
Now preparations are on to bring such a feature on Facebook.

When will the feature come on Facebook?

An app researcher has revealed that Facebook is going to launch like counts hiding feature.

Facebook has also confirmed that it is going to launch a feature hiding the like counts to give a stress-free atmosphere to its users. As far as the time of launching this feature is concerned, the company has not made it clear.
