Corona has created a furor around the world.
Many countries of the world are going through a lockout situation. Due to which people of these countries are facing many problems.
India too has adopted a lockout to protect against Coronavirus.
In terms of population, India with a population of 135 crores is second in the world after China.
In India, the countrywide lockdown of 135 crore people is facing huge problems.
Who is responsible for the Corona disaster?
Whenever we face a big disaster, we find that we ourselves are responsible for it. Because we have tortured nature a lot. Carelessness towards the environment is the main reason behind every disaster.
Therefore, it is the right time that the tragedy caused by Corona needs to be seen from the view of the environment.
Developed countries have done much violence with nature. China has not lagged behind in this matter.
Cutting down trees, releasing poisonous water in rivers, poisonous smoke in the sky, and farming of animals for getting food are some of the main reasons by which we have caused great harm to nature.
It is said that nature knows to take its revenge.
Nowadays, due to Corona, almost all major countries of the world are either under lockout or normal economic and industrial activities are almost closed.
Its positive impact on the environment is clearly visible. The water of the rivers has been cleared, the sky is clear, the bird’s initiative has increased. Overall, we have come closer to nature.
Before the Corona tragedy, it was considered difficult to save the environment. But due to lockdown, the environment has become surprisingly pure. It has been proved that if the world wants it, the protection of the environment is not difficult at all.
What measures can protect the environment?
We can take the following steps to protect the environment:
Use of electric vehicles:
If we talk about the capital of India, Delhi was a highly polluted city before the lockdown. There was mist in the sky, breathing was also difficult. But after the lockdown, the sky of Delhi has surprisingly been clear. Not only Delhi but in the whole country, the sky can be seen completely clear.
The biggest reason for this is that due to lockdown, the movement of vehicles is completely closed. Therefore, the environment is completely free from the smoke released by the vehicles.
This gives us a lesson that the world needs to get rid of petroleum product-driven vehicles immediately.
However, many countries of the world including India are already working seriously towards the adoption of electric vehicles.
If electric cars and bikes start running in all countries in the near future, then it will be a big step to keep the environment clean.
Reduce the use of plastic:
It is a well-known fact that plastic is one of the biggest enemies of the environment. So we should get rid of the habit of the use of single-use plastic.
Reduce dependence on non-veg food:
A large number of people in the world take non-veg food. Due to this, large quantities of animals, birds, and fish are farmed all over the world.
A huge amount of agricultural products is spent to feed these animals.
For example, a chicken eats 3 kg of grain by the time of being of 1 kg. It means, 1 kg of chicken is equal to 3 kg of grain.
From this, it can be estimated how much agricultural produce is spent to get non-veg food all over the world.
It is estimated that about 67 percent of the total cultivation in the world is used to raise cattle that are used for non-veg food.
If we end our dependence on non-veg food, then 67 percent of the agricultural land can be freed from agriculture. There may be the following impacts of this.
- The pressure on the land will be reduced.
- The land free from cultivation can be used for the green area. It will be very helpful to reduce the effect of carbon.
- Even if we continue to use the land for cultivation, the food produced on it can be provided to those who are facing a food shortage so that the problem of malnutrition can be controlled.
- It will also be a big step in saving the water in a great quantity.
How to save water by reducing cultivation:
Everyone knows that water shortage is a big problem for the whole world.
If the reduction in cultivation is made, it will save a huge quantity of water because about 70% of the total water is consumed only in agriculture.
On the basis of using, the consumption of water is divided as follows:
- 70% in agriculture use.
- 20% in industrial use.
- 10% in domestic use.
It is clear from above that if we reduce the dependence on non-veg food it will reduce the pressure on agricultural land and solve the water crisis as well.
Actually, for raising the cattle for non-veg food the cultivation is made at a large level and the huge quantity of fertilizers is used in this. The use of fertilizers causes a great threat to the environment.
This is the reason that Eric A. Davidson warns against the much consumption of meat products.
Although this warning by Eric A. Davidson against so much meat consumption is for the developed countries. But, in fact, it is for the whole of the world.
Davidson has particularly cautioned developed countries because they adopt a very irresponsible attitude towards the environment.
What is Earth Overshoot Day?
Earth gives us everything which is necessary to fulfill our basic needs. Whatever earth gives us we should consume in a year.
The day of the year on which we finish the natural resources which should be used in full-year is called the Earth Overshoot Day.
But many countries consume natural resources very carelessly and they finish their quota before the year is completed.
The more mercilessly a country exploits nature, the sooner it gets Earth Overshoot Day.
Then during the rest of the days of the year, they exploit nature.
The persecution of nature is not right, because nature takes its revenge anyhow.
Animals and Viral Diseases:
We know that the source of about 70% of species of the virus are animals.
The over urbanization is creating pressure on the forest area. It is reducing the distance between the men and the animals.
Our fooding habits are also responsible for various viral diseases.
It is being said that the wet market of China, where different types of animals are sold for food, is the source of Coronavirus.
Therefore, we should be aware to maintain a reasonable distance from the animals in order to protect the viral diseases.
Continue to co-operate nature even after Corona:
We will conquer Corona very soon but the Lockdown due to Corona has brought us to near nature. This is the right time when we should determine that we have to continue to co-operate nature even in the future as we are doing during the lockdown.
Save the Earth, Save the Future.
